Tiare's recount on the Athletics Sports

“ Yay“ It’s was Friday and Athletics is about to start. On Friday we had an awesome day. Panmure Bridge School was going to do Athletics and I was extremely excited. I just could not wait. But the sad thing was that I could not do any of it. I enjoyed helping Miss Sayers with the high jump. Then we had weird crazy weather, it was sunny and windy.

I was amazed with what the 10 to 11 years old could do. Cody N and his twin brother Jarred were jumping really high. I could not believe what I was looking at. Then there was awesome Lavinia and Stefanie who were great. They made it look easy I was amazed at how high they could jump. The order that it went in was Lavinia came first and Stefanie came second but I thought they both were winners. Then I thought it was going to rain but Miss Sayers was telling me not to say that but I
kept saying it. Just before finishing with the juniors, the bell had rang and people ran off to get there morning tea. Then morning tea had finished and I went to go watch shotput with the 10 to 11 years old. “ Wow that’s awesome “ I thought. The shotput was fun because I was looking at it while others were throwing it and it looked awesome!

“Run, Hillary you can do it ! “ 400m run. There I was watching people run sitting next to Merika. Then we had finished our amazing day but had finished off with the big 400m run.

My trip to the Museum

“ Boom boom went the volcano house.” In the school holidays I went to the huge Museum and discovered new things with my family. “Wow that’s amazing I’m looking at a giant elephant”.
We were finally in the weird and wonderful section, where there were weird and wonderful things. My favourite part in the weird and wonderful was the big tree hut, it was really big. Then I saw olden day toys which were so awesome I thought they would be fun to play with.

Yuck crayfish, I’m seeing a disgusting crayfish which is walking around a rock-pool.
Even fish! There were fish in there too. I hated it but the cool thing was that on top of those ugly things was glass and you could walk on it, now that’s awesome.

This place is giving me the creeps. We were in the Mummy room with a dead body that was a king. This Mummy was around New Zealand for years. There were bowls that had body parts in them, then we left to go to the Rugby World Cup, but wait a second where do we go to get out ?
“Oh no for a second we were lost ”. Then a nice person helped us. There it was, I was looking at a beautiful shining cup that a lot of countries were competing for. It was the Ellis Webb Cup. That was my favourite place in the Museum, visiting the cup. Then we saw the big scary shark. It looked freaky because of it’s teeth were really sharp.

“Oh my gosh it’s a starfish eating a muscle”. It looked disgusting. Then it was time to see the Maori things, I was amazed at what I was looking at. There were some small things and some very large things. There were green stones and weaved bags. The bags are called kete, and then there’s a big whare, but before walking in you always remember to take off your shoes. Then it was time to leave. I had a great time looking at things and seeing things I had never been able to see before. I hope I get to go there again.

3D Nets

The last time Mrs Walters came to our class we had a lovely time and made 3D nets they looked awesome. The thing that was really cool was that we made it out of wine gums and tooth picks and kebab sticks. First we watched a movie on identifining 3D shapes, I didn’t really get the idea, it was werid. The movie got interesting then I got an idea on what to do. Miss Paton said to choose our partner and I choose Veisinia.

Making 3D Nets

3D NETS
On Monday Mrs Walter came to our class and talked to us about 3D shapes. We learnt a lot of things such as how many faces a cube has, what the difference is between a 2D and 3D shape is. We also learnt that the difference between a 2D shape and a 3D shape is that a 3D shape has length, a width and a depth but a 2D shape has length and width but no depth. Miss Paton said “Choose your partner but don’t choose someone who can be off task and doesn’t do their work”. I chose Veisinia as my partner because she is always on task. Then we got asked to make an amazing 3D cube out of kebab sticks, tooth picks and yummy wines gums. But first Miss Paton asked us how many wine gums we needed. I said to my partner we needed 8 wine gums and she agreed. Then we looked around to see what others were doing, then me and my partner got an idea. We made a cute little cube. The great thing was that we got to eat the yummy wine gums at the end but the bad thing was we had to write our estimate and do measuring. I did good but it was a really messy. We then had to estimate how long one edge was and then we had to measure it. I estimated it to be 7 cm and I was right. Then we had to do our maths by plusing or using your times tables to equal all the edges together. They added up to be 84 cm. I was so happy because we got to go to lunch and even eat our wine gums Yay !

Drawing The Freanch Flag

Today we were drawing the French flag on Tux painting it was hard too then Miss G said that we had to make our own design I designed mine by using a French stick and a French hat mine does not look really cool but I based mine on the French things I like.

Spot The Difference

Spot The Difference

The difference between the olden days and the present days are :

In the present days we had different colours in the uniforms.

In the olden days the players were really skinny and not strong and they really looked like geeks.

In the present days we have numbers on the back of the jerseys.

The only thing that is the same is that in the olden days they had a sliver fern on the jersey and we do too and in the uniform we have a collar and they do too.

Now the rugby ball is oval and not round in the olden days.

In the olden days they used round balls.

They used belts in the olden days with their uniform.

In the olden days the women were unable to play rugby but now women are.

There are lots of differences between now 2011 and the 1800’s.

Jonah Tali Lomu

Jonah Tali Lomu was born May 12th 1975 and is Tongan. When Jonah was a child he was sent to Tonga to learn more about his culture. Then Jonah grew amazingly big, so big he had to run behind the car while his family were going to church every Sunday.

Jonah started to hang out with older kids like his cousin who is nearly six years older than him. Then something really bad happened to Jonah’s cousin. His cousin died in Otara. Then his mother sent him to Wesley College. To be put into order.

When Jonah was 21 he played for the All Blacks and played an awesome game agaist Hong Kong and it was wesome he tries. He had another career he played for 3 different teams called the Hurricanes, the Chiefs and the Blues. In total the number of tries he scored was 85. His funny nick name is Big Man Burger.

In 1995 Lomu had a health condition and was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome a really serious kidney disorder.
In 2011, Jonah Lomu has a fight against Munu Vatuvei but this is a fight for a charity this is not about who’s better.
